Tom Mathews obtained his M.Tech in Materials Science from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India in 1987 and PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India in 1994. After a post-doc stay at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, granted by the Australian Research Council, he joined Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research in 1995. Today he is leading senior scientist and team leader for Nano-materials for Energy Environment and Health. Initially working on high-temperature thin film electrolyte materials for SOFC development, his current work focuses on Nano- materials for H2 generation by photo-assisted water splitting and super-capacitors. He is international referee for J Phys Chem B & C, Langmuir, Chemistry of Materials, Nanoscale, J Am Chem Soc, ACS Nano, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, J Mater Chem, RSC Advances, Applied Catalysis B Environmental, Photochem Photobio, Nanotechnology, J Electrochem Soc, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Appl Surf Sci, Surface and Coating Technology, Thin Solid Films, Surface Engg, J Am Ceram Soc, J Eur Ceram Soc. He is member of various professional bodies such as American Chemical Society, Materials Resaerch Society, Indian Institute of Metals, Electrochemical Society India. He has published more than 90 papers in refereed journals, more than 50 contributions in conference proceedings.
